Make History Every Day

Give MHED. (giggity)

The Manifesto (aka “When in Doubt”) :

  1. Put one song from each of the playlists that you’ve arranged into a new playlist and listen to it.
  2. Listen to an album someone recommended but hated when you first listened to it.
  3. Break a social norm by acknowledging unnecessary human rituals.
  4. Listen to Reggae when you’re so sad you don’t even want to listen to music.
  5. Don’t drive unless you’re prepared to sing your heart out to one of your favorite jams.
  6. Stare at a candid photograph of your parents.
  7. Remember a very specific compliment.
  8. Wink at a stranger.
  9. Write as neatly as you can.
  10. Synchronize watches with someone once in a while.

Two times for two watches.

And at the end of it all its you…

Q tiiiiippppppppppppppp what are you doinnnnggg

They must’ve blew out the woofers last night at the Mezzanine cuz there was so much bass shaking my fillings. (Actually I don’t think I have any fillings.) It really was a party last night, and you can’t even help but meet cool people when Pac Div started it up fresh, the Knux brought it down, the Cool Kids tore it up, and Q Tip brought it home.

I just want to recognize the main man behind the sultry sounds Q Tip surrounds himself with, Casey Benjamin. This fool plays two keyboards, the saxophone, and the vocophone (blergh??!) and apparently has an ill (not sick) Trans Am named Deloris. I hope someone has a recording of that one instrumental song he started off last night. I don’t even know how Mr. Benjamin did it, but swear the keys in his keyboard were made out of water. Flows so nice.

If you’re still sitting there thinking that your vote doesn’t count, don’t. Get outta here and get in those polling places. I’ll see you at the party.

Video Blogging

Filed under: Aww that's nice, Nerd it out, ROFLZ

I posted awhile back about a dude who practically put his whole life into the internet with all these Web 2.0 shenanigans going about. His music is logged onto Last.fm as he idly listens to his iPod or iTunes, his status is updated with Twitter, pictures and blogs, and videos, too. The way he’s live-updating his life pretty frequently makes it seem that he extends his communication reach through the Internet. That’s pretty powerful.

I just thought, is the Internet all that expansive? I mean sure it’s connecting all kinds of people, but you only know as much as your network knows. Sure, you have 600 friends on Facebook, and I’m positive you’re gaining that much more information from all of them updating their status’ on how they feel about the rain. ( “Jarrett Bato is fuck the rain.” )

Is there a good way to broadcast into the internet without taking away from life? I would like to think that me sitting here on the computer is like me writing into a journal but letting people read it anonymously (if they choose). That means a certain Mark Carolino can talk about how little dogs are dumb (it’s science) in his time and space and I can appreciate that well known fact at my time and space. I figure putting more time and space into this blog could only be better.

Video blogging is less an idea of laziness and more of a way to be less cerebral. I can never imagine myself speaking whatever I write, maybe cuz I only remember the dumb shit I say. In any case, I’m sure someone can appreciate a good video like a good glass of OJ.

Hey, yo. I didn’t see you there.

Sorry, sometimes I treat my blog like the tax man.

So news is I have somethin’ a brewin’ with the man Caribou Jack. Do you think you’re ready?

Speaking of productivity, things have been going well for the Jarrett-star Runner. There’s small steps, and then there’s seeing how far I’ve come. It’s nice. Happy Halloween for those who had to appreciate it in the rain, and please vote for me, and anyone else who care and don’t have the power to vote. It is a power, so use it wisely. Amos Ibrahim, over and out.
